Celebrity Edge’s New Ship Smell
After 12 nights onboard Celebrity Edge, it’s easy to see why this ship gets so much attention — but the real question is whether it’s worth the premium price.
Starting with our Concierge Class Infinite Veranda stateroom, the design is modern, bright, and genuinely spacious, with one of the best bathrooms we’ve had at sea. The trade-off is limited wardrobe space, and the Infinite Veranda — while great for making the room feel bigger — won’t suit everyone, especially since opening it disables the air-conditioning.
Out on the Resort Deck, this is where Edge really shines. The pool area is open and stylish, the adults-only Solarium is perfect in any weather, and the cantilevered Magic Carpet is as practical as it is eye-catching. For casual food, the Mast Grill served some of the best poolside burgers we’ve had on a cruise.
The Oceanview Café completely exceeded expectations, with exceptional variety and quality that rivals — and in some cases beats — the main dining rooms on other premium ships.
When it comes to spaces, Edge feels more like a luxury hotel than a traditional cruise ship. The Grand Plaza is the social heart, Eden is a stunning three-deck aft retreat we wish we’d used more, and the Rooftop Garden is one of the best outdoor venues at sea.
Entertainment is another standout, with an immersive theatre, high-energy activities in The Club, and live music and events happening throughout the ship.
Dining in the four main restaurants was consistently excellent — every night felt like a specialty experience — which makes it easy to justify skipping the extra-charge venues.
So, is Celebrity Edge worth it? For us, absolutely. It feels modern, relaxed, and genuinely premium without ever being stuffy. The storage issues and the polarising veranda are small compromises for a ship that gets almost everything right.
With Edge returning to Australia regularly, it’s a ship we’d happily sail again.
